The Last Bookstore was started by Josh Spencer in a downtown loft in 2005 but it wasn’t until 2009 when a space opened up in the Old Bank District at 4th & Main that Josh moved in and opened the Last Bookstore for the public.

The space is gorgeous – oversize, aged leather sofas and scents of old books filled the air. The second level  is home to artists’ studios and a collection of art pieces hanging in their gallery. Rows and rows of secondhand books can be purchased for $1. If you are a couple who just move in together and in need to fill your library nook in your home, this is the place to go.

Here are some beautiful photos I took and I encourage you to go there and spend a quiet afternoon ‘escaping’ LA and entering the dream world of books.

A little side note, pee first. The Last Bookstore does not offer public restroom.
